FX Options Insight 29/10/24
The influence of EUR/USD options is growing, with many options expiring at 1.0800. The EUR/USD pair continues to trade within well-established ranges, and without the volatility from the U.S. election, the market would likely be much calmer. When markets are not moving, option expirations have a bigger effect because hedging around them has a magnetic, anchoring effect. The bigger the expiration, the stronger the pull. There are huge numbers of options within the 1.0500-1.10 range, and on Tuesday, there are EUR 3 billion options expiring at 1.0800, with almost EUR 6 billion expiring between 1.0780 and 1.0885.
